Dr. Stuart Hovis is a 1997 graduate of the University of Georgia, College of Veterinary Medicine. After one year of general practice, Dr. Hovis felt a calling to animal welfare and began working in her local animal shelter. In the shelter, she not only practiced shelter medicine but also became proficient in high-quality high-volume spay and neuter. After honing her skills as a spay and neuter surgeon, she paid it forward by teaching surgical techniques to senior veterinary students at the ASPCA. She has since retired from surgery but continues to practice shelter medicine caring for animals at her local animal shelter. Her veterinary interests are cat enrichment and behavior. She puts her feline behavior skills to the test daily by training her black cat Moufette. In her off time, Dr. Hovis also enjoys watching football, kayaking, yoga, walking or biking to nearby restaurants, and trips to the coast.
