Dr. Sonja Cox is a 2019 graduate of Auburn University's College of Veterinary Medicine. She is originally from Huntsville, AL and now lives in Gulf Shores, AL. She has taken extra courses and participated in externships to learn more about marine mammal medicine and canine physical therapy. Dr. Cox spent two years serving as a general practitioner prior to serving as a hospitalist at a specialty referral practice. She is also a veterinary consultant for Chewy and loves helping Chewy's pet parents.
Dr. Cox has four dogs (two retired racing Greyhounds, a Bloodhound, and a Doberman). Dr. Cox is passionate about taking care of special needs and geriatric pets, as well as those with orthopedic and neurologic issues. She is a fear free certified practitioner and has special interests in canine rehabilitation/physical therapy, emergency medicine, and nutrition. In her spare time, Dr. Cox enjoys traveling, spending time with her family and her dogs, paddle boarding, and enjoying local beaches.
